School-age Curriculum

Fun & Focus Hand-in-Hand

In our school-age program, we strive for a summer camp atmosphere all year round. We sing, play, craft, and even get a few grass stains. The goal is to provide an enjoyable environment, not just babysitting. We do all of these things while keeping the kids’ bodies and personal belongings safe. We absolutely have safety foremost in our minds, but we are proud of the fact that we know how to play at Sunshine Day Camp.

While it’s good to have fun, it’s important to have structure and purpose, too. Sunshine Day Camp’s curriculum is second to none when it comes to recreational school-age programs. Although the educational focus is at the elementary school, we provide daily quiet homework time for children in grades 1-6 and incorporate extracurricular opportunities in art, science, cooking, dramatic play, and more. We also encourage growth in character development.

Homework Club for Busy Parents

Arriving home to find your child still has an hour of homework can be frustrating. Sunshine Day Camp is proud to offer a quality “Homework Club” for all children enrolled in our after-school program (typically grades 1-6) at no additional cost. Spend the evening doing more enjoyable things with your child!  See your director for specifics to your specific location.

Each day, children can take advantage of:

  • Up to one hour and 15 minutes of homework time.
  • Small groups with a counselor to help with homework (typical 10:1 ratio).
