A New Normal...Still Super Fun!

It’s true, we are in a “new normal”.  BUT, that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun!  Our 2021 Summer Camp program features all new weekly themes and activities that appeal to campers of all interests.  Due to COVID19 prevention, we are not holding any field trips this summer.  However, in addition to our themed days, we will be doing lots of other exciting activities.  Campers will enjoy Wacky Wednesdays (fun dress up), Friday Fun Day (special lunch options & catered treats), water activities, and special guest entertainers!

For over 35 years Sunshine Day Camp has been providing amazing camp experiences for children in the Santa Clarita Valley.  Scroll below for why Sunshine Day Camp may be the perfect place for your child this summer.

Sunshine Day Camp is a very trusting child care provider. My son has been with Sunshine for about 4 years and loves going. He never tells me he doesn’t want to go, and there are times I pick him up and he wants to stay longer. I am very comfortable leaving my son in the counselor’s hands. Sunshine Day Camp does stuff like ice cream socials and BBQs where the parents can come and join. I would not move my son out of Sunshine Day Camp for anything. Best place for a child!

The Sunshine Day Camp Difference

Quality Programs

Did you know that many summer camps run by their own set of rules? As a licensed childcare, Sunshine Day Camp operates under the strict requirements of the State of California (including COVID compliance). This, coupled with our child-focused philosophy, provides your family with an exceptional camp experience.

Awesome Activities

Campers enjoy a variety of theme days and activities carefully crafted and planned to interest all personality types. In addition, we have special guest entertainers, rallies, and field trips. Children are organized in small groups by grade/age to allow for common interests, ability, and more individual attention.

Sensational Staff

Not only do we take special pride in our programs, we also take special care in the people we hire! Sunshine Day Camp counselors are sensitive, caring, and enthusiastic leaders. Many of them work in our programs throughout the year, meaning they are seasoned Sunshine Day Camp employees.  Each employee undergoes a rigorous background check and training process on such topics as positive reinforcement, appropriate discipline techniques, and effective child supervision.

Low Child-to-Staff Ratio

At Sunshine Day Camp, children are under constant adult supervision on campus and on field trips. Further, the ratios at all times are typically around 12 children to 1 adult (compared to 20 to 1 at some competing summer camps). During water activities, our ratios are 6 to 1. We feel that quality supervision equals a safer environment and better experience for your child.

Built into every aspect of Sunshine Day Camp’s DNA is character. It resonates in the staff we hire, it’s evident in the way we act around children, and clear in our policies and practices. We are all about the child and family!

Kid-friendly Facilities

It may surprise you to know that many summer camps don’t have access to indoor facilities during the day. At each Sunshine Day Camp locations, we have safe, decorated, and climate-controlled facilities throughout the day—a necessity given Santa Clarita’s hot weather.

What's New

kids with craft binocularsSince 1984, Sunshine Day Camp has been offering quality summer camp programs here in the Santa Clarita Valley.  2021 will be no exception!  Every year, we try to reinvent our calendar of themed days to provide your child with a new and exciting adventure.

Whether they’ve been with us for many years or just one, your child will have a great time at Sunshine Day Camp!

Each week we will be hosting a different theme.  During that week there will be a unique day that ties into the overall theme.  This allows campers to explore a wide variety of activities and games.  In addition, camp days will include special guest entertainers, Wacky Wednesday dress up days, Friday Fun Days, and much more!  For those enrolled in our camp, a weekly information sheet will be provided, including daily agendas.  Here are the weekly themes we will be hosting this year:

Weekly Themes

All Mixed Up (June 14-18): We are starting this summer off right…all mixed up!  This week we will enjoy a welcome party, backwards day, mixed up holidays, and much more.  Being All Mixed Up never felt so right!

Epic Adventures (June 21-25): Join with us as we embark on some EPIC adventures.  We will enjoy games, activities, and even some cooking from around the world!  This week will also include some cool virtual trips!

When I Grow Up (June 28-July 2): We have been saying that our whole lives!  This week it is finally happening.  Time for campers to experience life grown up (at least the fun/kid-friendly side).  We will explore careers and have our own Kid City.

Digital Download (July 5-9): This week is all digital!  We will enjoy recreating social media trends (kid friendly only), exploring apps, digital creations, and much more.

Artistic Creations-Music, Art, Video and More (July 12-16): Time to tap into our creative imaginations.  We will be doing exciting crafts, work with music and video, and even create some interesting foods.  Let’s get artistic!

Fantasy Realms (July 19-23): Dragons, princesses, and wizards are staple ingredients to some of the greatest stories ever told.  This week our campers embark on their own adventure!

Game Masters (July 26-30): Candyland, Monopoly, Operation, Jumanji…this week is all about games.  We will not be sitting playing board games all day long—we will play some—but most of the week will be creating new versions of popular board games through active play.  Game Masters would not be complete without creating our own make-shift arcade!

What Dreams Are Made Of (August 2-6): These are some of our favorite things!  We are taking some of the favorite games and activities kids have enjoyed over the years.  At the end of the week, we will host our End of Summer Party!
