Classroom Management Tips

In the month of January, one of our Classroom Management Tips was to to begin an incentive program.  If you do not have an incentive program set up in your room, or the one you are using is not working, try one of these incentives instead:

  1. Sunshine Store: Individually reward your children with fake money they can use to purchase real items at a store.  Fill your store with fun treats, toys, games, etc.!
  2. Sticker Chart: Individually reward your children on a sticker chart, you can create your own or search online for free, simple templates.  Once the children fill their sticker chart they can visit a treasure box, earn a popsicle, or a piece of candy!
  3. Table Points: Are you having trouble with several children in your group? Try using rewarding groups of children using table points, this can be a fun way to be competitive with small groups of children in your room.
  4. Group Points: Reward your entire group when they are doing a good job such as walking in line, having good behavior during a fire drill, following directions the first time, etc. You can do this by using a marble jar or points on a board.  Once they fill the marble jar, reward the group with a popsicle, doughnut or pizza party, extra free play time or an extra day with electronics!

Always remember, when using an incentive program, you should never take away points, money, or any reward that is already earned.
